John Rutherford is a founder and Managing Partner of Parthenon Capital Partners. Currently, Mr. Rutherford is a member of Parthenon's Executive Committee and Investment Committee. He is also on the Board of Directors for AmWINS Group, MedAssets. MedTel, Canongate and Bryant & Stratton College.
EXPERIENCEMr. Rutherford is also co-founder and former Chairman of The Parthenon Group, a 150 person boutique strategic advisory firm with offices in Boston, San Francisco and London. Prior to founding The Parthenon Group in 1991, Mr. Rutherford was a Director of Bain & Company. He opened Bain's European practice and had management responsibility for the Boston office.
At The Parthenon Group, Mr. Rutherford was responsible for organizing the investment of more than $70 million in three buyout transactions and 31 minority investments in over five years of private equity investing.
Mr. Rutherford formerly served as Chairman of the Board of Flow Control Equipment, Inc. and was a past Director of TAD Resources International, Microcom Corporation, and Mapletree Networks. Mr. Rutherford also served on the Board of Directors for Arrow Financial Services, Kenexa and Franco Apparel, former investments of Parthenon Capital. Locally, he is a Trustee of the Boston Museum of Science.
EDUCATIONA native of Wellington, New Zealand, Mr. Rutherford holds a B.E. (1st Class Honors) degree from the University of Canterbury, an M.S. in Computer Science from the University of Connecticut and an M.B.A. from the Harvard Business School.
